Welcome to this blog overview of the Knowledge Platform. The Knowledge Platform aims to form a bridge between residents, science, and government. We have published a knowledge overview about the gas extraction problems in Groningen for several years (2018, 2020, 2021, 2023), and we organize meetings on various topics. In the gas case there are major undertakings to repair the damage and to strengthen houses. The region is undergoing many changes at the moment. The government has removed the NAM from the system of damage repair and reinforcement, gas extraction will be stopped early and approximately 26,000 homes in the province will be reinforced. However, the road ahead is arduous and long. Since the Huizinge earthquake on August 16, 2012, the problem has also been national news and it is clear to everyone who follows it that much has gone wrong in the way this crisis has been handled. It is not without reason that a parliamentary inquiry has taken place to investigate the course of events surrounding gas extraction in Groningen.
